Orthophotos

Orthorectification is the process of correcting an aerial photo for distortions caused by terrain, orientation of the airplane, and the camera lens. This produces an image that has the
geometric accuracy of a map along with the immense detail of a photograph,
allowing measurements to be taken directly from the orthophoto
.

Digital orthophotos are created on workstations equipped with ERDAS Imagine. Orthophotos accompanying mapping projects are generated using the digital terrain model (DTM)
compiled during the mapping process while standalone orthophoto projects are
generated using USGS elevation data.
